Charlotte Cobb Meet Charlotte Cobb, a proud native of Lafayette, LA. She is a passionate entrepreneur and a dedicated mother of two young children aged one and three. Charlotte attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she majored in Child & Family Studies. She continued her academic pursuits at the University of Houston, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Immediately after graduation, she began her professional journey as a nanny in Dallas, Texas. Her experience in the field led her to open her first business, a nanny placement agency, when she moved to Austin in 2010. After more than a decade of living in Texas, Charlotte and her husband, Spencer, were eager to bring their family back home. In 2020, Charlotte and her husband returned to Lafayette with their two young children. Charlotte is passionate about creating opportunities for growth and development, both for herself and those around her. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we are thrilled to have Charlotte as part of our Academy. We can't wait to see the positive impact she will make in the years to come.
Mamie Perkins Meet Mamie Perkins, a Lafayette native with a deep passion for enriching the learning experiences of young children. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish from the University of Louisiana. During this time, she studied abroad in Belgium, France, and Spain to further develop her language skills. Mamie's love for education led her to pursue and attain a Master of Arts in Education through Centenary University's Escadrille initiative, a program with the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL). At l'Universite de Rennes, she spent a year researching the science of correcting a child's second language oral production in the most effective way. This experience led her to intern at an elementary school in Settat, Morocco, before returning to the United States. Mamie has been teaching in the public school system for six years at the LPSS French Immersion Magnet Academies. At Evangeline Elementary, she participated in the pilot program to implement Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) in her classroom. She also started a cabbage patch and a native butterfly garden to bring science to life for her students. She continued her career at Prairie Elementary, where she honed her skills working alongside some of the best educators in the district. Mamie is married to her hero, Matthew Perkins, who supports her wildest dreams and helps turn them into enchanted realities. They live in Lafayette with their growing family, which includes five children ranging from 5 months to 15 years old. In her free time, Mamie enjoys exercising and cooking to great music. She aspires to travel with her family, open an animal sanctuary, write a children's book, and become better at composting. With her passion for education and her commitment to her students, Mamie is a valuable asset to our community. We are thrilled to have her as a member of our team at C'est La Joie Academy.
